Distribution

The Strategic Business Unit-Distribution of Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd is responsible for the distribution of electricity in the State of Kerala except in Thrissur Municipal corporation, Munnar (Kannan Devan Hills) areas, and in the areas of seven other licensees which are mainly small industrial parks. The SBU-D of KSEBL comprises four distribution regions namely South, Central, North, and North Malabar.

The South region, headed by the Chief Engineer (Distribution South) with headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram, has a consumer strength of 36,02,412. This region consists of 7 Electrical Circles, 20 Electrical Divisions, 64 Electrical Sub Divisions, and 217 Electrical Sections, as on 31st March 2021.

The Central region is headed by the Chief Engineer (Distribution Central) with headquarters at Ernakulam, has a consumer strength of 39,78,099 and consists of 7 Electrical Circles, 24 Electrical Divisions, 70 Electrical Sub Divisions, and 235 Electrical Sections, as on 31st March 2021.

The Northern region, with its headquarters at Kozhikode, is headed by the Chief Engineer (Distribution North). This region has a consumer strength of 37,75,294 and consists of 7 Electrical Circles, 19 Electrical Divisions, 53 Electrical Sub Divisions, and 216 Electrical Sections, as on 31st March 2021.

The North Malabar Region, with its headquarters at Kannur is headed by the Chief Engineer (Distribution North Malabar). The region has a consumer strength of 18,47,694 and consists of 4 Electrical Circles, 8 Electrical Divisions, 29 Electrical Sub Divisions, and 108 Electrical Sections, as on 31st March 2021.

With the intention of providing quality power and assuring better customer service, Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd has made all its Distribution Section offices more customer-friendly. All Section offices are equipped with vehicles for attending to complaints from consumers. The grievances of consumers are redressed within the time frame stipulated by KSERC. The Training Centres ensure timely training to employees through orientation programs and separate sessions arranged at Section offices and at various levels. They are motivated to achieve organizational goals with top priority to safety considerations. Daily sunrise meetings are conducted in Sections offices for the scheduling of maintenance works, deployment of various wings, the daily allocation of vehicle, material allocation, arranging new service connections, reviewing the previous day’s work. Also, other important issues are discussed transparently and effectively in such meetings. Continuous monitoring/evaluation of the progress of works (both Capital and O&M) at various levels help in achieving the plan targets.

Scheduled Maintenance

Due to the maintenance activities scheduled at the Data Centre, online payment facilities ( www.kseb.in & wss.kseb.in ) will not be available to the consumers during the period: 27.11.2021, 10 pm to 28.11.2021, 5 am. For the same reason, SSO Portal ( ep.kseb.in & web.kseb.in) will not be  available to the employees
