History and Objectives

The O/o Chief Engineer – Projects Electrical Designs came into existence by upgrading the O/o Deputy Chief Engineer PPSHUP (Pallivasal Panniar Sengulam Hydro Up-grading Project) and reviving and re-designating abolished place of the Chief Engineer (Thermal) vide B.O. (FB) No.679/2007 (Estt.III/396/99) dated 22/03/2007, for the implementation of new Hydroelectric Projects and Renovation & Modernization of old hydro stations of KSEB. It deals with all Engineering & Design activities of Electromechanical works of new Generation Projects and R&M (Renovation & Modernization) / RMU (Renovation, Modernization & Uprating) of existing Generating Stations of KSEB. Earlier, these functionalities were carried out by the O/o Deputy Chief Engineer (Projects Electrical Designs), under the control of the Chief Engineer (O&M) hydro. Because of the increased operation and maintenance activities due to aging of existing stations, and design activities due to increase in number of new projects, the Engineering & Design activities have been separated and brought under the control of the Chief Engineer (Projects Electrical Designs).
