Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has inaugurated Janakeeya Vydyuthi Adalat organised by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) at Thiruvananthapuram on 29-01-2011. The total electrification of the State is expected be completed by the year-end, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said in the inaugural speach. Inaugurating the electricity adalat-2011, the Chief Minister said Alappuzha and Ernakulam will be declared totally electrified by February 20 and all districts will attain the same status by the year-end.
Despite a cut in power allocation from the Central pool, KSEB managed to avert tariff hike, load shedding and power cut. While the previous UDF government managed to generate 26 MW in five years, the LDF government could generate 204 MW in over four years, he said.
The adalat is also a major step in improving the quality of service. Power Minister A.K. Balan, in his presidential address, said 979 complaints were received on announcing the adalat, of which 125 had already been settled. The rest are being processed.
While applying for power connection, securing the mandatory consent from Revenue authorities, for drawing the lines, was a tough task. Such cases are expected to be sorted out at the adalat, he said. The adalats held earlier had an encouraging response from the consumers.
